Service Oriented Architecture
From IRF Wiki
Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a rethinking of computing that emphasizes reusable services as building blocks. The API platforms and mashups of Web 2.0 are an example of SOA. The mashups of Web 2.0 are examples of what SOA calls composite applications, that is applications built out of services.
- SOA offers a way to reconcile the hub and the edge. The hub can provide certain secure services to the edge that can allow data from the locked down hub into the fuzzy collaborative world of the edge, as appropriate.
- SOA has been widely accepted as an important paradigm in enterprise computing, but implementation has not been fast. One large impact of Web 2.0 could be the acceleration of implementation of SOA in the enterprise.
