The Provacy/Security Tradeoff
From IRF Wiki
The IT & Security discussion confirmed the impossibility of complete security. To allow access to information is a threat to security, but with out access, the information is useless. To ensure security a system must, in essence, know who it is talking to. But tracking information about individuals is a threat to privacy.
- This tradeoff is usually made in an environment in which people are willing to give up some privacy to obtain some level of security.
- What can we say about how these tradeoffs are constructed?
- How can the consumer be involved earlier in the design phase?
- Should this discussion be in the chapter instead of this conclusion?
