[edit] Topic 2: Potential Killer Applications

In developed countries such as Germany, new and innovative products and services are required in the area of health and environment. It has been calculated that helping elderly people to live at home as long as possible through health service support will help significantly to cope with the increasing budget demand. And, given the recent consideration on energy consumption and global warming new services and methods have to be developed for preserving the environment.

  • Are there any potential killer applications?
  • What are potential killer applications and cross-verticals in particular that could probably take advantage of the Internet of Services?
  • What are the bottlenecks in business processes of international trade and logistics which could be alleviated through the Internet of Services?
  • Will the Internet of Services provide new ways of preserving the environment or reducing carbon foot print?

This session is intended to be an open discussion, but the moderators want to provide a starting point for brainstorming. Here is one set of questions that provide a framework for generating and describing ideas for applications?

  • What is the urgent problem?
  • Who would want that solved?
  • What would the value of solving that problem be?
  • How would the killer application solve that problem?
  • In whose interests would it be to provide such an application?
