Dr. York Sure
Dr. York Sure works at SAP Research since 2007 as technical coordinator for the German lighthouse project THESEUS-TEXO. He holds a position as visiting professor at the Universität Mannheim where he is lecturing master and PhD courses on the internet of services and semantic technologies. York published widely on semantic technologies and knowledge management; he co-authored the first German text book on semantic web (published at Springer).
Prior to joining SAP, York worked as assistant professor at the Institut AIFB of the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) where he lectured master and bachelor courses on semantic web and computer science. At the AIFB he was project leader and research area manager for large EU funded research projects and in particular led the work in the Vulcan Inc. (a Paul Allen’s company) funded multi-staged international project Halo - Towards a Digital Aristotle.
York graduated in December 1999 in industrial engineering and received in May 2003 his PhD in computer science from Universität Karlsruhe (TH). From June to September 2006 he was appointed as a visiting assistant professor at Stanford University. In 2006 he was awarded with the IBM UIMA Innovation Award and in 2007 with the doIT Software-Award.
